Stem Threadfill

A Kashmiri-inspired fill of fine stem stitch, brushed with directional light.

02 — The Story

Stem Threadfill packs rows of fine stem stitch side by side until they fill a form entirely.

A Kashmiri-inspired fill, it leaves a soft directional grain, so the surface catches light like brushed silk. The rows must run in true parallel and turn together around a curve; where they fall out of step, the brushed sheen breaks.

It carries the memory of the valley workshops in every pass of the needle.

Read as museum plates — the stitch at the scale of the hand that made it.

Plate i — Thread Direction & Density

Rows of fine stem stitch are packed side by side in one direction until they fill a form entirely, leaving a soft directional grain.
