Fly Brick

Staggered brick-set stitches, building a surface course by course.

02 — The Story

Fly Brick sets stitches in a staggered, brick-laid rhythm, course upon course.

The offset rows lock together like masonry, giving a broad fill both strength and a subtle directional grain. The regularity of the courses is the whole effect; a row set too high or low interrupts the weave of light across the surface.

It is fill as construction — patient, structural, sure.

03 — Macro Study

Read as museum plates — the stitch at the scale of the hand that made it.

Plate i — Thread Direction & Density

A fly stitch is repeated in an offset, brick-like sequence, each row shifted half a stitch from the one above it.

Plate ii — Surface, Layering & Light

The staggered repetition keeps the surface from ever looking uniform, light catching each offset row at a slightly different angle.
