Cross Stitch is counted square by square across the weave of the cloth.

It is the oldest discipline we keep, worked so evenly that the pattern reads the same from either face. There is nowhere to hide an error; the grid is absolute, and a single miscount travels through the entire motif.

Its beauty is its honesty — structure made visible, and made to hold.

03 — Macro Study

Read as museum plates — the stitch at the scale of the hand that made it.

Plate i — Thread Direction & Density

Every stitch crosses at the same angle and in the same order, top thread always falling the same way, so the grid reads as perfectly even from any distance.

Plate ii — Surface, Layering & Light

Worked in blocks, the crosses build a slightly textured, almost woven surface, light catching each cross differently depending on the angle it is viewed from.
